As common sense tells us, trampolines aren’t a home insurer’s best friend. While some insurers are more willing to insure homes with a trampoline than others are, you’ll still likely hit a few speed bumps during the application process. And if your application does get approved, due to the higher risk you’ll end up paying a higher premium. The basic fact is, a trampoline on your property increases the likelihood a liability claim could be made against you. Insurance companies want to avoid this. If you file a claim due to a trampoline mishap, it’s almost guaranteed your premium will go up, you might even get dropped!
If you’re considering buying a trampoline, you’ll want to weigh the options of having one. While they’re a good way to keep your kids active, the added expenses and risks might cause you to shy away from it.
If you’ve set up a trampoline after your existing policy origination date, speak with your insurance representative to find out if your policy allows one. If trampolines are in agreement with your coverage you still need to pay attention to specific requirements in the coverage, such as having netting or padding.
Give us a call. We're happy to help find out what your coverage provides.
